Hope for a better world in 2018. Happy New Year!
Many refugee families continue to work, study and play hard in our communities. Although the political climate permeates the fear for many refugees who still have family and friends in refugee camps abroad, positive attitudes abound. For example, a refugee dad found a new job in his profession, teenagers are thriving in school with new friends and activities. Many of the middle-school kids are reading the popular book Wonder while looking forward to seeing the movie. Younger ones and mothers are getting better at English every day.
Temple Beth Israel Social Action committee found a car for a family who desperately needed transportation to/from work; thus changing their lives toward more independence.
First Presbyterian Church Claremont members provided holiday gift-filled stockings for nearly 25 children in December. The RRT#2 gave $100 gift cards to each of the ten families we serve. Thanks to many folks whose donations made this possible.
May Peace and Joy come to all in the New Year.
